5th week's activities- Derebei Dimitra

During the 5th week of "Skillful Hands" project the children played the activity "Team chain". The class divided into 3 groups by colour. Each group created a chain by finding felts in their own colour intertwining and buttoning them. 

At the Basic Skills Center, the children had the opportunity to play with felt toys that engaged them into passing buttons through button holes. 

This week we had also a collaborative activity in which we made an ebook about the story of a small red button. Our classroom painted the picture for the 2nd section of the story. 

"She had breakfast with her parents. Her father wished her good luck for the first day at school. Her mother kissed her on the cheek and bid her farewell."

The jointly created story is read to the children. Coloring page is distributed. Children can draw however they want. One of the colored pages is selected to create a book.

When it was time for lunch, the school worker winked at the red button. When he saw the step in front of the red button sink, he realized why. He washed his hands, turned off the tap on his own, and thanked the attendant with a smile as he left.

Children sew buttons on felt at home with their families. Felts brought to school are placed in the middle of the carpet. The class is divided into two groups, and at the end of the game time, the group that makes the longest chain by buttoning the felts together wins.
